SEED SPIDER ROCKET

The Rocket is our latest development. Designed as a single row seeding unit, it is ideal for small scale vegetable growers, seed companies and research institutions. Multiple rows can be sown by attaching the desired number of units to the standard 1.5m (59 inch) wide toolbar. Fitted with a new version of our proven electronic seed metering system, the Rocket can accurately sow a wider variety of seed types at a very affordable price. Features:

Design The Rocket has been designed with functionality as the primary concern, resulting in an affordable seeder with simple calibration, easy depth adjustment and quick seed change. The chassis is moulded as one piece in fibre reinforced nylon. The light weight, durable design makes the Rocket suitable for use with any tractor. Click on the image to the right to enlarge.

Electronic seed metering Like our standard metering system, the seeding rate is controlled electronically, though the Rocket metering system has been modified so that it and the soil opener are a complete assembly. A wide variety of seed types, from fine lettuce seed up to larger seeds such as corn and squash, can be metered through the metering system to sow a single row. The metering system is powered by the tractor's 12 volt DC supply and provides independent control of the seeding rate of each unit, enabling different crops or different rates to be sown side by side simultaneously. The gentle sponge feed system ensures seeds are not damaged and the transparent plastic hopper allows the seed level to be easily monitored. The seed hopper is easily filled by removing the lid and pouring in the seed. Excess seed remaining in the hopper after the completion of seeding can be quickly removed by loosening a tri-knob clamp, lifting the metering system out of the chassis and pouring the seed out of the top - no expensive seed is wasted! The complete metering system weighs 1.3 kgs (2.9 lbs) and the seed hopper has a 1.9 litre (0.5 gallon) capacity.
Soil opener Rocket soil openers are of the same proven design as used on Seed Spider Roller Seeders. The openers are designed to form an optimum seed channel with minimal soil disturbance. They form a very fine 'V' shaped slot in the soil for the seed. Soil from one row does not fall onto the neighbouring row, ensuring even seeding depth across the entire seed bed. Rocket soil openers are constructed from highly abrasive resistant plastic for durability and low replacement cost.

Bed skids Seed Spider Rocket units have a bed skid attached to the front and rear of the chassis, with the soil opener mounted in between. The front skid levels the bed while the rear skid covers the placed seed with soil. The skids are reversible and are constructed from 15mm thick highly abrasive resistant plastic, ensuring a long life.

A-Frame and toolbar attachment The category 1 & 2 A-Frame is constructed from mild steel and provides quick and easy attachment to the tractor. The toolbar is 1.5m (59 inch) wide so can easily fit up to five individual Rocket units. The U-bolt at the end of the spring steel arm clamps the Rocket unit to the toolbar in almost any position, so any row spacing can be easily catered for.

Spring steel arm A spring steel arm joins the Rocket unit to the toolbar with U-bolt clamps. The spring steel construction provides enough downwards pressure while still allowing for contour following of the soil, resulting in a consistent seeding depth.

Height adjustment sleeve The height adjustment sleeve varies the depth of the soil opener. The black tri-knob on the chassis loosens the sleeve so that the depth can be adjusted. Holes through the side of the sleeve indicate where the depth is set, and a clip is provided to mark the desired hole position so that a particular depth can be repeated with ease.

Hand Pulled Rocket The hand pulled Rocket is ideal for small scale seeding. Equipped with the same proven metering system as the tractor pulled Rocket. It is a reliable and affordable alternative for small scale growers, seed companies and research institutions.

Optional upgrades The standard Rocket unit is available with an optional higher torque motor and/or GPS sensor and controller. The higher torque motor offers finer precision and an extended seeding range. The true ground speed GPS sensor and controller automatically adjust the seeding rate to compensate for changes in the tractor speed.

Custom build available The Rockets modular design makes it an ideal solution to unique seeding requirements. One, two, three outlets are available for each rocket row unit. This provides many options for row spacings and number of rows. Different frames can be made to suit. There are a number of different machine setup options provided. These options are based on both seeding accuracy and sowing requirements. In conjuction with the different machine setups, there is additional equipment that can be fitted to the machine to increase available seeding accuracy. Optional upgrades include Amax motors, EMF control and a GPS ground speed sensor. These upgrades are ideal if achieving accurate seed placement is important.

Simple operation Simple to operate, because it is designed that way. Other seeders frequently require highly skilled operators. Not Seed Spider! Our systems can be operated without special training and with far less likelihood of expensive mistakes.

Ultra fast setup No other seeding system offers such easy access to so much flexibility. You can change from one seed type to another in less than 60 seconds. You can adjust your row spacing in minutes and you can set your sowing depth by loosening a single tri-knob. Even your sowing rate is controlled, and can be quickly adjusted electronically.

Easy to transport Seed Spider equipment weighs much less than many existing machines and is easily transported from site to site. This means set up times are reduced, as are the opportunities for injury or strain to operators.
